One of four legendary sessions by Charles Mingus leading one of his most extraordinary groups with Dolphy, Ervin and others.

This is the last of four albums comprising all of Charles Mingus' work for the Candid label, and it contains one previously unsuspected (and of course, unissued) alternate take of great interest.

For the rest, it gathers together material that was only released for the first time in the Mosaic boxed set of Mingus recordings, alongside tracks that were issued in 1961 although not included in Mingus albums but in the compilations The Jazz Life (CCD 79019) and Newport Rebels (CCD 79022).

This session ws recorded in 1960 when Mingus had one of his most extraordinary and innovative groups with Dolphy, Ervin, Bley, Flanagan, McPhearson, Richmond and Jo Jones.
