Catriona McKay is an extraordinary harp player who recently won Instrumentalist of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards 2007, and appeared on Transatlantic Sessions 2008 with Aly Bain, Jerry Douglas and Julie Fowlis, who she also supported at a landmark gig recently in Edinburgh.
Catriona devised a harp that has been designed and made by Scottish harp makers "Starfish Designs". It has a new tuning pattern, designed for use in contemporary folk music. The "Starfish McKay" harp is an experimental and exciting step in a new direction for the evolving tradition of the Celtic harp.
This new solo album is an astonishing contemporary record of grace, power and above all adventurous and original music.
