“Vital. Original. Stunning. Awesome.” – KERRANG!
CAPDOWN’s roots lie in hardcore punk and ska, but they’re as happy dipping into rock, dub and drum n bass. Always energy-packed and anthemic, their sound is a powerful mix of Fugazi’s taut, tight, rhythmic hardcore; The Ruts’ dirty dub-influenced punk; Madness’s infectious, dancehall-crazy ska and the mosh-friendly insanity of System Of A Down. They also share the same strong political standpoints of these bands.
Over the past six years, Milton Keynes four-piece CAPDOWN have established themselves as one of the most talked about underground bands of recent times. The success of their independent albums ‘Civil Disobedients’ and ‘Pound For The Sound’ (combined sales of 30,000 and rising) was cemented with a constant barrage of incendiary live performances. In 2000 alone they played 250 gigs. CAPDOWN have gone on to support everyone from Less Than Jake to Hundred Reasons, taking in tours with the likes of Reel Big Fish and Bad Religion, performances at Reading / Leeds, Glastonbury, Deconstruction plus trips to Europe and Japan.
Radio One are longterm supporters of the band – CAPDOWN have recorded sessions for both the Evening Session and, more recently, The Lock-Up, a show the band regularly contribute to. The band have been lauded by everyone from Kerrang! and NME to The Times and The Guardian.
CAPDOWN released two critically-acclaimed EPs, ‘Act Your Rage’ and ‘New Revolutionaries’, in 2003. Having toured with Bowling For Soup, 2003 culminated in a sold-out UK headline tour.
2004 saw CAPDOWN take time off touring to write their much-anticipated third album. Despite this sabbatical, the band supported Less Than Jake, played Glastonbury and completed their most successful, sold out UK tour to date in December that year. 2005 saw them record their self-financed third album – which they intend to find a label for this year – and release a self-produced live album. They were the only UK band on the European Deconstruction Tour, were arguably the band of the day at that year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals Lock-Up Stage and supported ‘A’ on their UK tour in October. Headline shows in 2006 earned them a 4K live review in Kerrang, adding to their haul of effusive press. The band’s fan base is stronger than ever and still growing. They supported Fall Out Boy in May, played a Lock-Up tent at Reading and Leeds in August which was quite possibly even more full than last summer’s and will embark on a headline tour in November. A new single will be released to coincide, with the new album 'Wind Up Toys' due for release in early 2007.
The UK’s premier punk band, CAPDOWN have grown into the most dynamic and exciting new band to come out of the UK underground in years.
