If Cheap Trick were moderating a debate between Social Distortion and the Dropkick Murphys over which was better: internet vs. home video pornography - it would sound like Candygram For Mongo!

Candygram For Mongo began in late 2005 when Tony Shea, vocals, and Gary Sharp, drums, started ripping through tunes out in the back shack of G’s house in North Hollywood. With fun, anthemic, and original punk-n-roll tracks that had a sense of romance, humor, and guts, Gary and Tony brought on two more outstanding musicians – Johnny D, guitar, and Dan Cohen, bass - to round out the group and begin production on their debut album, “The Red Pill.”

Candygram For Mongo are now taking their show on the road - continually building their fan base throughout Los Angeles with regular appearances at The World Famous Viper Room, The Derby, The Mint, and other historic venues. The response has been phenomenal! Blogcritics.org says, “THE RED PILL is THE RIGHT CHOICE!... They are unique and fun, which is rare in an industry of carbon copy, ‘thinspiring’ wannabe performers.” Candygram For Mongo’s song, INTERMISSION, was featured on the hit cable show, “Battlestar Galactica.” They have won the award for “Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year” at the 16th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards. Their track, HAPPY, has been accepted into the Clear Channel Discover New Music Program and will be featured on hundreds of Clear Channel Radio Station Websites, and Black Angel Promotions writes, “the music is absolutely brilliant.”

Although Candygram For Mongo has only been together for a relatively short time, each member is an experienced musician. TONY SHEA, grew up on a steady diet of punk music and prep school mind control. Tony’s first band, Columbian Necktie, was part of the Washington DC club scene for years, and particularly renown for their outlandish live shows. Tony’s misadventures have resulted in numerous broken bones, multiple concussions, and literally hundreds of stitches. He moved to Los Angles in 1999 to find a nice quiet place to settle down. JOHNNY D graduated Harvard (Illinois) Music Academy with a minor in Lead Glockenspiel. He quickly became bored with hippy chicks that are attracted to Glockenspiel players, and picked up the guitar. After 6-years on the road, Johnny moved to Nashville, TN and played with musicians from The Allman Brothers Band, Rev. Al Green, Cinderella, Vince Neil Band, Dolly Parton Band, Garth Brooks Band, and Lorrie Morgan. GARY SHARP considers Candygram For Mongo the only real band worth mentioning. However, Gary is no stranger to playing the drums. Having been a part of various Drum & Bugle Corps for the entirety of his teenage years, Gary weeps every time he thinks of the sheer amount of parades he’s marched in, due to its constant reminder of his inner (and outer) nerd-ism. DAN COHEN has been a musician all his life. Having strummed his way through Seattle for most of the 90s, Dan moved to L.A. in 2000 to experience the Y2K apocalypse, as well as compose, produce, and perform for commercials, film, radio, internet, and corporate events. Dan has played and recorded with musicians from bands such as Heart, Gigolo Aunts, Manray, Happy Stars, The Posies, The Rembrandts, Dog’s Eye View, and many more.
