Fiery club banger from the UK's premier femcee. Includes storming drum & bass remix c/o Decipher
Press reviews:
Ya’ll ready for that next ish? If the reply is a resounding ‘hell yizeah’, then delve those unkempt hands deep in to your pockets for cashola, and purchase this immediately. Not only is C Mone beautiful (as you may have seen during many photo shoots) but this former Out Da Ville member can rock the mic with the best testosterone challenged emcees out there. Stan Bac sees her tearing apart a ridiculous Nick Stez beat, describing her night out on the town with the ladies. Add to that a catchy chorus, and dope cuts and you have yourself an ill club track, which isn’t afraid to do something new without trying to be Kanye or the Neptunes. The B Side Dysfunktional isn’t as strong as the A, but with a real nice beat and heavy rhymes, it is only let down slightly by the chorus. This 12” leads nicely up to her highly anticipated album, and if these tracks are anything to go by, it is sure to be hot.

Undercover, Oct issue
Sounding like it was force fed 'Yo Bum Rush the Show' era Public Enemy, 'Stan Bac' is a bruisingly heavy slab of hip-hop atonalism, as Chinese strings, punchbag beats and a layer of of fuzzed-out noise admirably ask questions of speakers, minds and ears alike. And whilst this Cleopatra's rapping may not be watertight, there's enough energy and regional originality to compensate.

Home Style’s first lady (well she is now) C-Mone proves that it’s not just
Estelle that can grab the mic and turn heads. ‘Stan Bac’ features Smiley andDJ Fever and is a Friday night party rocker. The flip ‘Disfunktional’ is a smoother track and yes, I know we mentioned them a while back, but now these tracks are available to you, the public at large, we feel that it’s necessary to give C-Mone a heads up again. [plus big pic]
HHC, September issue
Est’elle and Shystie step aside – C-Mone ain’t taking no BS, flaming inimitable, regionally realisable Queen‚s English as Nick Stez applies ‘87 Public Enemy drone & Def Jux-inspired, chin-checking grunge. Decipher’s bona fide jugular-headed D&B mix leaves ŒDisfunktional‚ as the flipside, crestfallen thinking laced by DJ Fever that out of necessity, divides the time between club rip-ups and quieter reflection. *****

DJ reactions:
She’s wicked. Beats are good too.

This is a wicked 12". Best Son release for me. Hot.
(Huw Morgan- Hartor Street- Electrics - Manchester)
Wicked UK female emcee. Mad production too.
(Kidkanevil- Stateless/Straight No Chaser - London)
A1 has got to have the illest drums/rhythm trax I have heard in ages. I’m sure Timbaland has wet dreams over drums like this. Unfortunately the music isn’t quite as strong but still tight. C-Mone sounds mad nice on both tracks also showing she has what it takes to stand alone.
(Si ‘The Creators’ – Various – Worldwide)
I prefer the mellow tip (Disfunktional) but both tracks are strong.
(Plump DJs – Fabric/Boutique/Bugged Out!/Various – Worldwide)
A-side is cool but wow!… B1 really touched me deep. Great to hear regionalism. Very good.
(Rob Smith ‘Smith & Mighty/More Rockers’ – Various – Worldwide)
Decent UK hip-hop that will definitely appeal to the younger generation. The girl’s got skills no doubt, nice beats and cuts.
(Ian Cracknell- Tuesday Club/ Sheffield Live 87.9 FM/ Various- Sheffield)
Son always deliver some interesting different stuff. Feeling it. I’m particularly digging the production – great intelligent hip-hop. Sounding good on the bigger systems.
(Rob Mac – Scratch/Various – Worldwide)
Stan Bac definitely a fat squelch of freshness. Plenty of plays for this wee gem. My favourite track to date. B-side good too.
(Pork- Lamp Welly Vibe/ Meglamedia FM – Hull/World)
Great single with tight cuts too… boom bad. A1 and A2 very good for the floors.
(DJ A La Fu ‘Infinite Livez DJ’ – Big Dada/Radio Skool/Various – UK)
The best C-Mone to date! Should stay in the box all summer. Very good.
(Jason Holmes ‘Beatphreak’ – Fat City/Various – Manchester/UK)
Another consistent record from Son. Nice beats and wicked vocals from C-Mone
(Skeg – Breakin’ Bread/Itch FM/Various – UK)
Give me C-Mone over Shystie and all of the other London MCs any day. This is class and so much better than what is going on in the capital. Your time is coming quick. Charting @ 8.
(Disastronaut – Sonic Mook/Slack Sabbath/Various – Worldwide)
A1 – like it a lot. Supporting on radio. Very good.
(Rob Luis – Phonic Hoop/Tru-Thoughts/Various – Europe)
Another quality release from Notts most consistent. Charting @ 10.
(DJ Slipperz ‘Taskforce’ – Various – Europe)
Nice ideas, like the more mellow approach on B1, seems to suit the vocal better than the more aggressive option on A1. All good stuff.
(Superstyledeluxe- Various – Midlands/Worldwide)
2 good tracks…into them and would like to hear more.
(Mr Scruff – Keep It Unreal/Ninja Tune/Various – Worldwide)
Like the beat. Vocals are tight.
(Andy Peek- C’mon feet/ Kro’s Feet - Manchester)
Original – both sides are working well
(Tom Spencer- Mr Bongo- London)
Liked the beat on this and was really really feeling the vocal.
(Brad ‘The Nextmen’ – Various – Worldwide)
Can use this 2 cool groove.
(Rob Smith ‘Stereo MC’s - Various- Worldwide)
‘Disfunktional’ is the one for me- loved her last tune. This should be huge- Nice one.
(Tim Hancock- ‘Capoeira Twins’ – Various – Midlands/World)
Appetite is suitably wetted.
(Chris Gorsuch ‘Repax-One’ – Various - London)
Generally really good. I like almost all of the tracks I’ve heard from C-Mone. DJ Fever is obviously sick too with some ridiculous scratching.
(Miles Hesketh - Medicine Bar/C02 Bar/Locks/ Warick Arts Centre - Midlands)
playing it out, works for me in the warm-up. Charting @ 11.
(Chris Read – Substance/1Xtra/Various – UK)
Nice breaks, steady rhymes.
(Found Sounds – Various, DJ Mag - London)
There is so much shite UK hip-hop released at the moment but Son always seem to get it right… very nice.
(Paul Weston – Townhouse/Fudge/Various – Leeds)
