driven by a wide spectrum of influences, the music of brass bed moves easily through an eclectic mix of genres. from alt-country ballads and progressive rock hooks, to sticky sweet doo wop yearnings, midnight matinee is a unique mix of intelligently designed compositions that has left some critics describing the band as something akin to "the beach boys crossing paths with the flaming lips." after several home-recorded recording projects, midnight matinee marks brass bed's first venture into a professional release. recorded as a three piece featuring original members christiaan mader, peter dehart, and jonny campos, the album's layering and dubbing served as a de facto audition for future brass bed piano tickler andrew toups. the band has since expanded to a five piece to tackle their more demanding arrangements with the addition of full-time bassist jacques doucet. brass bed will be touring throughout the year in support of midnight matinee, bringing their potent live show to the rest of the country.
“…Like The Flaming Lips crossing paths with The White Stripes.” Nick Pittman The Times of Acadiana

“Anyone fortunate enough to catch a Brass Bed show or curious enough to buy a CD will not be disappointed in this imaginatively inventive band” Rachel Worthy – The Vermillion

"Playing organic indie-pop that's grabby, earthy and intelligent, Brass Bed spices its psychedelic sounds with country nods like pedal steel, resulting in a compellingly distinctive assembly of instrumentation that dutifully serves each song." Wade Tantangelo - Creative Loafing
"A winning confluence of effervescent indie rock, quirky psych-pop, country and even a couple of moments of noise. Imagine one of the Elephant 6 bands, only powered with more rock juice and draped in some pedal steel." Bao Le-Huu - Orlando Weekly
