The premier MC coming out of Mexico - called the Talib Kweli of Latin America
BocaFloja, an MC hailing from Mexico City, is somewhat of an elder statesman for the underground hip-hop scene in Mexico—but not the hip-hop scene most of us are accustomed to when we think of Mexico. The Control Machete wanna-be's, Kid Frost clones, Psycho Realm posers, and Cypress Hill imitators are fading out to usher in a flourishing underground scene influenced by the likes of West Coast hip-hop heroes Freestyle Fellowship and Living Legends, as well as other innovative groups such as Dead Prez, The Roots, Black Star, Common, Wu-Tang Clan and Gangstarr. Although this scene has been brewing for the last eight years, it isn’t until recently that these underground artists started making noise on a global level.
