Knol Tate is Askeleton, which began in 2000 during the break-up of his former band, The Hidden Chord. Using a free version of a certain unnamed audio program, he started putting together songs based on samples with simply-arranged keyboard and guitar parts paired with leftover Hidden Chord lyrics.

In the fall of 2002, with the help of new equipment and software, Knol began work on what would become Angry Album -or- Psychic Songs. Enlisting the help of his brother Erin Tate (a.k.a. Ezilla of Minus the Bear), to record live drums, the Askeleton sound took on a new character. By focusing more on live instrumentation and relying less on the samples and loops he first used, the sound became larger and more rocking without losing the overall aura of his simpler work.
