Ash Ganley and The Lyons Rock Council are proud to announce the release of their debut album, “Dark Fuel”, on Big Bender Records. The album is an undeniably powerful and distinctive roots-rock/American trad-rock release that features captivating musical performances, and memorable signature hooks, performed by five exceptional musicians, (all close friends living in Lyons, Colorado) who have many national touring and recording credits between them.
Ash Ganley is a widely known, highly praised, and critically applauded singer-songwriter and guitarist from the Rocky Mountain region who has traveled the U.S. and Canada performing many styles of music, including rock, reggae, blues, alt-country and bluegrass, for over a decade. He has often been compared favorably to Stephen Stills, Tom Petty, Seal, William Topley and Eric Clapton. He has shared the stage with Little Feat, Derek Trucks, William Topley, B.B. King, The String Cheese Incident, Maceo Parker, Jimmy Cliff, and others. He has performed at numerous high profile venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Fox Theater, and the Boulder Theater. Ash continues to build his fan base by playing regular dates throughout the Rocky Mountain region and by securing local radio airplay and press.
Bassist Brian Schey has been playing and producing records for fifteen years with sixty albums under his belt. A 1992 graduate of Berklee College of music, Brian moved to California to study composing/arranging at The Dick Grove School of music, where he also played with such acts as Sheryl Crow, Maria Mckee and members of the Counting Crows and The Wallflowers.
Drummer Brian McCrae has performed on stage with rising star Mindy Smith, Michelle Shocked, Nina Storey, Tony Furtado, Sherri Jackson, The Freddy Jones Band and Sally Taylor to name a few. He has recorded on tracks with Maceo Parker, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, John Medeski, Steve Berlin, Glenn Tilbert and others. Brian also stays busy as a session drummer for commercial clients including Ford, McDonalds, Hot Pockets and Dish Network.
Guitarist and pedal steel player Eben Grace has played nationally with Dan Bern and Great American Taxi. A native of Colorado Springs, Eben is well known among recording studio engineers, as a partner in Grace Design, designers and manufacturers of high-end studio audio gear, and namely their pre amps.
Andria Ganley is an Emmylou Harris disciple, who has been singing back-up to Ash’s vocals for six years.
Within a few short weeks of the album’s release, “Dark Fuel” has already been embraced by regional press and radio, including regular rotation at Denver’s 99.5FM, KQMT, “The Mountain,” and has consistently been among the thirty most played titles at Fort Collins’ public radio KRFC-FM since the single “Elysian Fields” was introduced in August.
"…(It’s like) Eric Clapton and William Topley had a kid!" - Wendy Kale, Entertainment Editor - The Colorado Daily
“We very rarely add an entire local disc to our music library, but our Music Director, Mike Casey, digs this album so much, we added the whole thing.” – Nicole Prosser, Asst. PD, 99.5FM KQMT, The Mountain, Denver, Colorado
