From his early years as a classically trained pianist and composer through to his studies at York with Nicola Lefanu (daughter of French composer Nadia Boulanger), Andy 'Touch' Fingers has made it his mission to absorb as much inspiration and depth of musical vocabulary as is humanly possible.

Whilst at school, he began to take notice of the realm of dance music through the Atlantic Soul sound of the late 80's and the Acid House and Hardcore of the early 90's. This took him on a pilgramage of sound that led to his teaming up with Tilla Kemal (T-Mirage) in 1998 to co-produce and run the Drum and Bass label Odysee; an imprint that played host to school companions Jim Baker and Phil Asselett (Source Direct) and also D&B pioneer Rupert Parkes (Photek).

Andy also spent several years playing in the Edmonton Warehouse alongside the cream of UK Garages DJs such as Ramsey, Scott Garcia, Ride and numerous others. Wish Records was set up at this stage and with Warehouse resident Kem C, Tilla and Andy released several 12"s that fused the UK Garage sound with a deeper more musical vibe. It was here that Andy rediscovered his love of House Music and in 2003, whilst still producing for Odysee, he was introduced to Jafar and together with a few other friends, the Kwaito Recordings imprint was born.

The Kwaito label ethos was to produce music for true House conoisseurs. Their early releases fused Jazz and Broken Beat with more substantial House grooves. The releases were met with considerable approval, in fact one of Andy's previous E.P's 'Touch Of Jazz' was IDJ top tune of the month. Most of the music was then arranged for an in-house collective of musicians to be played live. The group Rare Unit (now Poetiquette) began to gain recognition through a series of high profile gigs across the UK and abroard.

Since then, Andy and Jafar have recently directed their attentions to the more electronic side of the House music scene with the launch of Artizan Music. Determined to embrace the future without losing any of their Deep House heritage, the duo are carving new paths for 2007 and beyond.

Andy continues to write and arrange for Poetiquette; his love of the live music experience is a key aspect of his personality. He is also passionate about introducing younger people to the ways of Soul and House and is currently running several schools Soul groups where young musicians are given the oppurtunity to perform covers from Aretha Franklin through to Blue Six and Sade through to Jill Scott.

His latest solo releases on Artizan follow a plethora of joint material with Jafar as part of 'Jafar & Touch' (see Desertlands on Hustle Music, 'Dont Rush to Find Love' on Universal Vibes' and the remix of Demarkus Lewis' 'Dont Stop Believin' for some highlights)
