"Not since Jonny Lang have we been as excited and has there been so
much buzz around a young artist and performer.” -Jon Delange,
Tinderbox Music
Hailing from Minneapolis, the city that birthed legends like Paul
Westerberg, Bob Mould and His Royal Purpleness, Adrianne Lenker is an
authentic, passionate singer, songwriter, and performer. Her debut
CD, Stages Of The Sun, produced by Steve Hodge (Mariah Carey, Janet
Jackson, Sting), was released on LucidTunes™ when AdriAnne was only
14. Her followup CD/DVD, Live At The Southern, was recorded a few
days before her 15th birthday in July of 2006 at the Southern Theater
in Minneapolis (see a video from this performance in the "media"
section). AdriAnne is currently working on her 2nd Studio LP, which
is scheduled to be completed in late spring, 2007.
So why does such a young woman have so much to offer?
“I had a very different childhood,” says Adrianne. "I saw and heard a
lot that forced me to think about who I was and who I wanted to be.
That’s what my songs are largely about. I talk about my place in the
world and the context of my friends and family, how we treat each
other and what we should be and mean to each other for the world to
be a better place.”
Adrianne has been studying voice, guitar, and composition since she
was 10 years old. Her vocal influences have ranged from BIllie
Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald to Sheryl Crow and Leigh Nash. This
fantastically talented young woman either has written or co-written
most of her songs and she plays guitar like someone who is sincerely
dedicated to the instrument. In a time of assembled artistry Adrianne
is a breathe of fresh air. Stages Of The Sun and Live At The Southern
could possibly be just a glimpse into the future of this amazing young woman.
